Need To Master Your Track? SoundCloud x Dolby Has A Tool For That

by Liz Ohanesian in Announcements August 28, 2020

Before you upload your new track, make sure it’s mastered. Mastering on SoundCloud, powered by Dolby, launched in July and gives artists an affordable way to add the finishing touch to their latest tracks. For Pro Unlimited users, three free monthly masters are part of the subscription and, beyond that, masters are $3.99 each. For non-subscribers, masters are $4.99 each. The prices remain the same no matter what file type you use.

To hear the results of this new mastering program, listen to the pre-master and mastered versions of “Games” from L.A.-based vocalist Baby Jane. The pre-master version sounds quiet and quite subdued. Mastering pumps up the beat, giving it a dynamic and slick edge. “After it’s put through the mastering program, it pops and it sounds competitive with other pop songs that are released through big productions,” says Baby Jane.

For mastering, make sure you upload the highest quality file you have and try the program out with a snippet (which you can do for free) first. If you decide to go forward with the master, you can choose from several different mastered options to find the perfect sound. Watch the tutorial video first before you get to work.
